The
RinkWriter®
"app.pathRW02" Folder

|
|
The average scorekeeper does not have to know
anything about the "app.pathRW02" folder. However,
knowing about the "app.pathRW02" folder can be
helpful for setting up your computer(s). It can be a helpful
when setting up tournaments and/or
multiple games on a single computer.
Knowing about the "app.pathRW02" folder is also
helpful if you are able to download
rosters from the Internet.
|
|
The "app.pathRW02" folder is automatically created by RinkWriter®.
It is created inside of each "RinkWriter" folder when the
software is run. Your data is stored inside of the "app.pathRW02" folder.
|
|
In this example, the "app.pathRW02"
folder has been created inside of a "RinkWriter" folder
which was named as the "Bantams" folder.
|
|
Understanding the "app.pathRW02" folder
and its contents can make it easier when:
-
setting up several computers having the same data
-
importing rosters
from the Internet.
- setting up multiple games for a tournament.
- copying data to another computer.
|
You may have more than one RinkWriter®
folder on your desktop... each folder can have its own set of data.
Each folder must have a unique name. (Examples may be
"Varsity" , "Junior Varsity",
"Bantams", "Pee Wees", "Bantam A",
"CIC", "West Regional", "Game 1",
"Game 2", etc.)
|
|
The
"app.pathRW02" folder's name is
derived from
application
path RinkWriter 2002.
|
|
The "app.pathRW02" folder is always
automatically created inside of the folder that contains the application (RinkWriter.exe).
You may have
more than one
"RinkWriter" folder on your desktop.
|
|
Inside of each app.pathRW02 folder, two
folders are automatically created and they are always named as Game
and Teams.
|
 |
| Inside of the Game folder
you will find the data files that are created and saved for the current game.
This folder
will contain the names of the
teams, officials, and coaches, etc.
|
|
Inside of the Teams folder
you will find about 20 more folders...one for each level of play...
including: adult, high school, bantam, peewee, squirt, collegiate, juniors,
U14, other, etc.
|
 |
|
Inside of each of the team
level folder, such as the high school (HS) folder, you will find the
rosters that have been saved or imported.
Sample team roster files are shown below:
|
 |
| The team roster files are
automatically created by RinkWriter®.
Sometimes, they may be available for downloading
from the Internet.
|
|
All scorekeepers may use a single
"RinkWriter" folder on your desktop...
However,
for convenience and data
security, it may be helpful to have multiple folders on
your computer desktop.
- Folders can be named after a scorekeeper,
a single tournament, or a team.
- Folders for several games
can be set up ahead of time. This works well for tournaments.
- For high school games, create separate folders for your "JV" and "Varsity"
games.
- Separate folders can allow you to go back to
edit a
previous game.

Some scorekeepers wish to maintain their own data
files. They may even carry their data along with
them to another computer. An entire folder may be copied from
and pasted to another computer.
|
If RinkWriter®
fails to run on a
computer, you may need to install the software by running the "Option 2"
setup. (Contact the person who has secured the software for
your site). |
|
|
Any one of the desktop
"RinkWriter" folders (data and software) can be
saved to a USB Flash/Thumb Drive (recommend 4 GB or more). From
there, it can be transferred to other computers.
RinkWriter®
can be run from inside of a "RinkWriter" folder on a flash
drive, but
it may run slower.
